We raise our glass to this old, native plum variety. Intensely fragrant, golden yellow and round, it is aptly named “Haferpflaume” – oat plum – in German. The jury is still out on whether its name is due to its special colour or its harvesting season – we think it’s all in the taste! During distillation, the Damson develops distinctive and clear grain flavours. A very special plum! We grow it in a parish called Heuwiese – in the middle of the village and by the side of the church.
